Getting high with a fisheye

May 20, 2010

With snow melting out of the high country pretty fast now, the first real hike of the year took me up Utah’s Grandeur Peak. At 8,299 ft. above sea level and only about 3 miles from a paved road, it’s considered one of the easiest summits around Salt Lake City and still provides a spectacular view. Also did a bit of riding this week, which has left me with a partially torn MCL and doctor’s orders to have no fun for the next few weeks.

Photos all taken w/ a Nikon 10.5mm fisheye lens, which I borrowed for the weekend.

Head for the hills

January 9, 2010

I was fortunate enough to get a week and a half to head home over the holidays, to beautiful Arkansas. OK, so it’s not that pretty in winter, but it has its charms.

…and hello to Utah

September 23, 2009

Leaving Montana’s not easy, but moving to Utah’s a heckuva lot better than moving to Nebraska. Big mountains, great scenery and some decent restaurants are making Salt Lake a nice place to be. Here’s a couple from up around Alta ski resort, just 20 minutes or so from my house.
