Putting on makeup to work out
November 20, 2009Had an opportunity to do a little commercial work for Gold’s Gym this week to promote their personal training offerings. Not only is it one of the first commercial jobs I’d ever done, I haven’t shot anything but landscapes for three months. So yeah, I was a little nervous. Keep in mind these are a bit of a rough edit since I had 12 hours (including sleep) to cull a few from the herd.

Electric blue (and smelly) water
November 2, 2009Hiked in to some hot springs a ways south of the city today with some friends. he closer you got to the spring, the crazier blue and milky the water became. It was a great time, but I don’t know if I’ll ever get the sulfur smell off me.

A strange new place
October 20, 2009The red rock deserts of southern Utah are some of the most un-Earth-like places I’ve ever been. Ironically, for a place defined (literally) by the color of its rocks, I was really thinking in black and white this weekend. Some post-processing vignetting has been added, just because I like it. I have a lot to learn about desert light.

Riding the Bobsled
October 10, 2009Right above downtown is a crazy downhill called Bobsled. Why, you ask? Because there’s not a single straight line on the whole thing.

Fall on Timpanogos
October 8, 2009Nothing special, just a few foliage shots from a driving tour nearby.

…and hello to Utah
September 23, 2009Leaving Montana’s not easy, but moving to Utah’s a heckuva lot better than moving to Nebraska. Big mountains, great scenery and some decent restaurants are making Salt Lake a nice place to be. Here’s a couple from up around Alta ski resort, just 20 minutes or so from my house.

Saying goodbye to Montana…
September 21, 2009It’s been 3 weeks now since I left Montana for Salt Lake City (hence the longer-than-usual update delay), but I’ve just now found the time to look back a bit. Things were a blur as I raced to get out of town, but the last 24 hours I was in Montana I tried , as much as time allowed, to make a final few images that captured a little bit of the place. As usual, it took no talent, as my favorite place in the world put on quite a show for me before I left.
